If you want a wedding videographer in Manitou Springs, the short answer is that Manitou sits right against the mountains just west of Colorado Springs, so there is no travel fee, and the main thing to plan around is how early the mountains take the sun. I'm Andrew with Peak Wedding Films. I grew up in Colorado Springs, and Manitou Springs is right next door. Here is how I plan a Manitou wedding so it looks and sounds like your day.
No travel fee, minutes from home
Travel is measured from Colorado Springs, and anywhere within about 90 minutes carries no travel fee. Manitou Springs is a short drive from home base, so a Manitou date is planned exactly like a wedding in my own town.
I also film one wedding per day. Nobody is rushing in from a morning ceremony somewhere else, and nothing is waiting behind your day that weekend.
The mountains take the sun early
Manitou Springs is tucked into the foot of Pikes Peak, closer to the mountains than most of Colorado Springs. That means the sun slips behind the ridgeline even earlier than it does in town, and shade can cover the streets while the plains to the east are still in sunlight.
That early shade is a gift if you plan for it:
- Soft, even light arrives earlier in the evening, which is lovely for faces.
- The window for warm, glowing light can be shorter, so portraits should not be left until the last minute.
- In fall, all of this happens earlier still.
On the pre-wedding call that comes with every booking, we look at your exact date and spot and set aside time for the two of you in the best light.
A small town with real character
Manitou is a historic mountain town with a lively downtown, older buildings and narrow streets. That character looks wonderful on film. It also brings practical questions:
- Parking and walking. Ask your venue where guests park and how far they walk, so arrivals are calm rather than rushed.
- Visitors around you. A busy weekend downtown means passersby. A quieter time or a tucked-away spot keeps the focus on the two of you.
- Moving between locations. If you get ready in Colorado Springs and marry in Manitou, build the drive into your coverage hours.
Elopements on the Manitou side of Pikes Peak
Pikes Peak and the Manitou Springs side of it are among the places couples elope close to Colorado Springs. An elopement here gets the whole day, the same as a full wedding: the walk in, the vows, time in the light afterward and the walk back out. Public land has its own rules for ceremonies and for flying a drone, so check those for your exact spot.
Sound in town and on the trail
A film keeps your vows in your own voices, the toast that made everyone laugh and the music. Street noise in town and wind up on the slopes can both get in the way.
- Keep the officiant and the two of you close together for the vows.
- Seat toasts where the speaker faces the guests.
- Tell me early who is speaking, so I know whose reactions to watch for.
Weather against the mountain
Summer afternoons along the Front Range often bring storms, and they can build fast over the peaks. Plan a covered backup and a decision time. My gear is weather sealed, and if the timeline needs to shift, we shift with it and keep rolling.
Choosing your coverage
Every package includes drone coverage, where your venue and the land allow it, and a full documentary cut, with 8, 10 or 12 hours of coverage. You can compare what each Peak package includes before we talk.
